Pinging pages is a great way to bring them to the attention of the search engines. Your wordpress blogs (and most other blogging platforms) already have pinging built in - but this technique also works for websites as well.

The bookmarks allow you to quickly submit your pages to either pingomatic or pingoat - these services go on to ping multiple sources. Just drag the links to your toolbar to install the bookmarks.

Both bookmarks will use the current page title as the title to ping. If you don’t want to use the page title, just highlight a section on the page, and that will be used instead.
